Thank you so much to Sarah Elizabeth Puckett from Our 21st Century Odyssey for nominating us for a 2018 Liebster award. These folks are visiting all 7 continents–seriously, Antartica even!–so make sure to check them out.
What is the Liebster Award?
The Liebster award is a way to connect and promote the blogging community. As we have seen here at MLT, it’s absolutely essential to share and get in touch with as many people as possible. The way to do this is for us to answer some questions from our fellow bloggers, and to send some new ones to a new batch of nominees. We’re super excited to be a part of this!
If you could relive one trip you’ve been on, what would it be and why?
This is an easy one! Our around the world trip we took in from October 2017 to February 2018. Mainly because we were following a dream, and there may be no greater feeling in the world than watching your dreams transfer to day to day life.
What is the best meal you’ve had while traveling?
Such a hard question! Possibly the pepper crab we ate in Cambodia, or the pizza we had in Naples.
What has been your biggest travel splurge, and was it worth it?
Our honeymoon on our honeymoon in Phu Quoc, totally worth it.
If you could gift a trip of a lifetime to a loved one, who would it be, and where would you send them?
I would send Joe’s mom to Italy. It would be fitting to send her to where her family grew up and to see Italy for the first time in over thirty years.
What’s the number one activity you recommend to visitors in your hometown?
Visit Joe’s families restaurant, Village Trattoria!
Where are you heading on your next trip, and why did you choose that destination?
We’re traveling locally for a while. Austin is next because we have a travel blogger conference that we are extending into a trip because we love the city.
What’s your favorite guilty pleasure TV show?
House Hunters, International or Renovation preferred but really any will do.
What can you simply not travel without?
Choosing just one thing is very hard, but I think I would have to say a kindle. I have all kinds of anxieties that come out in full force when I’m traveling, I rely on my kindle for a soothing distraction.

Have you ever had to go to a doctor or hospital while abroad? Tell me about it.
Never actually! Fingers crossed I never have to. However, when Joe was studying abroad, his friend got a fish bone stuck in his throat in Barcelona. The doctor was fantastic and got it out right away.
What’s your best packing tip?
Lay out everything you are planning to bring, cut it in half, lay it out again, and cut it in half. Then, go through each individual item and measure its worth. Any “just in case” or on the fence items can almost always be left behind unmissed.

Tell me the story behind your most recent Instagram pic.
I was on a friends rooftop in New York City having cocktails with friends I’ve had for almost a decade now watching a beautiful sunset. To say it was a magical moment is an understatement!

Tell me, what are the answers to these questions?
- What is the most memorable conversation you have ever had while traveling? (It can be with a stranger, friend, travel partner, whoever!)
- If you were only allowed to use one form of transportation to travel for the rest of your life, what would it be?
- What fears have the potential to keep you awake at night?
- What is your must-do activity whenever you visit somewhere new?
- If you were going to travel in full disguise as a famous person, who would it be and why?
- What limitations do you believe have held you back from living the life you most want?
- What is your “must-eat” meal as soon as you get back from a trip?
Loved reading this!! Also I swear by the “cut it in half” packing tip! Thanks for spreading the love 😍
